On April 26th, BKHM hosted accounting students from Seminole State College in their efforts to learn more about the many options open to them in the world of accounting.
Ten students listened to members of BKHM ranging from partner to new staff and folks providing audit and tax services. Each member of BKHM gave a brief synopsis of some of their daily responsibilities and told their respective story of how they came to end up at BKHM whether from another firm, another city or a totally different profession. Students were able to gauge from these stories that “its ok” if your career doesn’t travel in a straight line or if you are embarking on a second or even third career before finding the world of accounting. It’s all about finding a career and a place you love to work. BKHM members also gave the students recruiting and interviewing tips to help them in their future job seeking endeavors. BKHM also reviewed the resumes of students to offer advice on how to best present themselves to future employers. All in all, everyone enjoyed meeting and talking with each other and BKHM enjoyed sharing a little bit of who we are with the students.

This program is geared towards middle and highschool students and they are issued a computerized baby for an entire weekend. These babies are programmed to do everything a real baby would do and the student has to take care of all of the needs the baby has for the weekend. They are scored on how they do and really get the experience of a new parent.
After we finished up there we spent the afternoon at Fun Spot riding go carts and participating in team building activities. At BKHM we are dedicated to our community and helping our local nonprofit organizations.
